This review is intended to help students prepare for the PatientA Patient Care Technician is a healthcare professional who works under the supervision of a registered nurse, physician, or other healthcare professional to provide fundamental patient care. Responsibilities may involve taking vital signs, collecting blood and urine samples, conducting basic diagnostic tests such as EKG, and providing assistance to the physician as required. Graduation from High School (or equivalent), and graduation from an approved Patient Care Technician program within the last 5 years.

Or 1-year verifiable work experience as a Patient Care Technician professional.

MedCa provides certifications for current healthcare workers (with at least two years of work experience) or graduates who have successfully completed an approved training program. Obtaining a MedCa certification does not warranty employment. MedCa certifications are not equivalent to formal education or training. Students that successfully pass the certification exam receive a certificate by MedCa which will expire within two years.
